“I wonder if I’ve been changed in the night? Let me think: was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I’m not the same, the next question is ‘who in the world am I?’ Ah that’s the puzzle!”
— Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Who am I as a writer is the puzzle, the riddle I’m in the process of discovering. I’m on a grand tour through the fertile land of my imagination. Like Alice, I’m down a rabbit hole.
I’ve been a corporate writer for large Canadian companies for more than 15 years. I’ve written about gold mining, personal finance and business. It paid the rent and it still pays the mortgage, but it feels as if some part was changed during those more than 5,000 nights.
However, like Lewis Carroll’s Mock Turtle says: “No wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.” I have a “porpoise;” I am searching to find me – the writer – my authentic voice. Through this blog I share the adventure through weekly postcards from Wonderland.
You’re welcome on the journey.
